Landscaping Across the Prescott Area
Four towns a short drive apart, with very different soil, elevation, lots and rules. Pick yours.
One region, four kinds of yard
The four towns we serve sit within a short drive of each other, but their yards behave very differently. Prescott is the highest and most wooded, with ponderosa pine, granite boulders and steep lots in the wildland-urban interface. Prescott Valley is more open grassland, with newer subdivisions, HOA design review and steady wind. Chino Valley sits lower on the valley floor, where UA Extension describes shallow soil over a hard caliche layer that can trap irrigation water. Dewey-Humboldt is rural, with larger parcels, long driveways and washes that run hard during the monsoon.
Each town page covers what that town's soil, elevation, lots and local rules mean for landscape design, plant choice and hardscaping, plus the local offices and programs worth knowing before you start. Whatever town you're in, every project starts the same way: a site visit and a written, itemized estimate.
| Town | Biggest factor |
|---|---|
| Prescott | Granite rock and wildfire defensible space |
| Prescott Valley | HOA rules and wind |
| Chino Valley | Caliche layer and drainage |
| Dewey-Humboldt | Washes and erosion control |
